TEBORI TATTOOS aka STICK & POKE TATTOOS

Your body is a temple, but how long can you live in the same house without redecorating it?

First things first, Tebori also known as stick and poke or hand-poking tattoos are NOT illegal. It is a traditional way of tattooing which was performed by the Japanese before the origin of tattoo machines and they’re pretty safe if you’re choosing the right, certified tattooist for yours.

Anecdotal experience ~ I’ve always been a huge fan of tattoos and I got my first in 2012! I have six of them now and I was inked with the hand-poking technique very recently. It is definitely a surreal experience because I had no clue that a tattoo design as small as a Sagittarian constellation could take 3-4 hours. Yes people!

I don’t mean to panic you, it’s a game of patience of you and your artist (choose them wisely) and sit tight. The process is completely same except the machine is replaced with a handheld needle and believe me when I say, hand-poking tattoos HURT LESS as the needle insertion process is less abrasive than the machine

The tattoo industry is booming and in the process we’re losing the tradit ional touch of it. Here are some artist who still work with the tradition and I adore them. Go get yours now!
